Nonviolent Moment airs every other Tuesday from 10:30-11am Pacific Time.
The show highlights the wealth of resources at our disposal for the safer and more effective practice of nonviolence. Instead of dwelling on the widespread violence of our culture, we will draw our attention to the fact that all these manifestations of violence stem from one force. More than this, we will devote our attention to the counterforce that can overcome violence and elevate our consciousness!
You can tune in live to KPCA, (Petaluma Community Radio - 103.3 FM,) or find the segments retroactively alongside our Nonviolence Radio episodes, wherever you get your podcasts.
We welcome listeners to submit their nonviolence questions to be addressed on the show! Please direct those to info@mettacenter.org.

Hope Tank
“The world doesn’t need another think tank; it needs a HOPE TANK.”
~Metta Friend circa 2008
Hope Tank is an open-but-focused conversation about the power of nonviolence to help transform the greatest challenges our world is facing. In a sense it is “back by popular demand,” as we had hope tanks for years in Berkeley. Now, however, the world has become more conscious that humanity is in a “polycrisis.” What people do not seem to be at all conscious of is that there is a “polysolution” 𑁋 nonviolence.
More than a tactic for protest and political change, we believe that nonviolence is a part of who we are as human beings and its re-discovery—and practice—is our duty in our long-term evolution as a species. We believe that moving from an old story of separateness and competition into a new story of humanity in which we are mind, body, and spirit—and nonviolence works on all these levels— is an often overlooked but essential ingredient of personal and social uplift and transformation.
The format is vegetarian Potluck Meetings at our office on the Third Saturday of the month from 9:00-1:00 pm, after silent meditation from 9-10 am.
As our mission at the Metta Center is ‘education for nonviolence,’ we will provide a resource each month that participants should read/watch/reflect on prior to our group meeting. Themes of the conversations will not be pre-planned but will develop organically during the given meeting.
We very much look forward to sharing the discovery of hope together with all of you.
Registration for each meeting is required. Donations are appreciated.
Bring: a vegetarian brunch item to share (enough for at least 5 people), napkin, and your own plates/utensils/cup for chai. We will provide a milk-based chai and non-milk other hot beverage options.
Health Protocols: Being mindful that Covid is still with us, please feel comfortable wearing a mask if you’d like, and even consider testing prior to attending, and as colds and Covid do spread, please feel free to stay home if you have any symptoms of either.
