PROTECTION IN THE U.S./CANADA
Gandhi’s vision of the Shanti Sena or “Peace Army,” is being realized here in North America as multiple peace organizations from around the U.S. and Canada have joined together to form the “Shanti Sena Network”. As members of the Shanti Sena Network, they are excited to announce their first ever (virtual) Shanti Sena Network Summit meeting, featuring veteran trainer in Kingian Nonviolence, Charles Alphin, and Paul K. Chappell, the director of the Peace Literacy Institute.
The Shanti Sena Network Summit meeting will be held Friday, June 25 – Sunday, June 27, 2021. Participants must Register for this FREE virtual event.
“We are amazed and humbled by the depth of wisdom and experience that is being shared by our speakers.”
said Mary Hanna of Meta Peace Team, a Shanti Sena Network member organization.
“This group of leaders has been instrumental in shaping what nonviolent resistance, Unarmed Civilian Protection, and conflict transformation means. Their messages are both powerful and inspiring!

Fr. Peter Doughtery – Meta Peace Team
David Hartsough – Peaceworkers
Mel Duncan – Nonviolent Peace Force

The Shanti Sena Network Summit meeting is an opportunity for people actively engaged in Unarmed Civilian Protection (and those interested in it) to gather for resource sharing, skills training, tips for efficacy, brainstorming ideas for their future work and introducing those new to Unarmed Civilian Protection to the concept and effectiveness of active, assertive nonviolence.
